Abstract
This report is concerned with the suggestion to develop an object recognition
system that can identifies automatically two dimensional objects, in this case the
recognition of cars type. Although a car is a three dimensional objects, focus will be
given only to the car side region of image in which it describes the two dimensional
view of the car. This project considers the possibility of using moment invariants in
measuring the numeric properties inherent in the studied objects. This method had
been applied in many applications particularly in scene mate,hing and object
identification. In many application, it has been approved that a set of values derived
from moment functions has.the desired property that can be taken as an object's
features in which they are invariance under image translation, scaling and rotation.
