3D Human Brain Reconstruction From 2D Data Set

Abstract

Volume rendering is a technique for visualizing 3D arrays of sampled data. Many areas benefit from it especially in medical imaging and scientific visualization, but its use has been limited due to the high computational cost. However, advances in computer hardware have made low cost volume rendering become possible. Not only the cost, volume rendering can now do the processing and displaying in real time, this means minimum 5-10 frames per second with the support of Graphics Processing Unit. In this project, a human brain MRI data set was obtained from internet. An interactive human brain model built according to the data set which can be control by user displayed in the computer.
