Abstract
Web-based or on-line system tools are increasingly being developed with the
advancement of information and communication technology. They are easily accessible
and benefit the computer savvy society. To further embrace this technology trend, the
Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Career & Counseling Center's On-Line Resume System
is being designed and developed, specifically to simplify resume administration of
UTM's graduating students. This tool improves the efficiency of UTM's graduate hiring
collaborations between the Counselling & Career Center, UTM and recruiting
companies. It also enables Counselling & Career Center, UTM to track graduating
students resumes,job applications and recruiting companies sourcing activities for UTM
graduates. These data will assist counselling & career center, UTM to design
appropriate intervention programs, to increase the employability of UTM graduates.
The on-line system tool was developed using System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
methodology, modelled against evolution prototype. It is being designed using Unified
Modelling Language (uML), fully leveraging on the Hypertext preprocessor
(PHP)
technology. It is hoped that it can be utilized well, so that UTM graduating students will
be mapped to the right job positions available and achieve the right career they want.
The development and deployment of this on-line system tool, increases the usage of
information technology and is in-line with the objective to make UTM, a World Class
University.
