Visualization Of Geographical Elements Over Earth's Surface Using JavaView

Abstract

Visualization Geographical Elements over Earth Surface Using JavaView (VGEES) is a kind of Java applet that provides a way of supporting computation in Web documents. By using the advanced of Internet Technology, Internet access is an efficient, effective and easy method for obtaining information on demand. Old paradigm of static web-based models tends to become dynamic web-based models. Normally, geographical information that presented as vast numeric matrices will be absorbed at a snail's pace. However, the rendered graphical information can be assimilating at a much faster rate. The core objective is to build an interactive java applet for visualizing geographical elements using graphical library JavaView. JavaView is a 3D geometry viewer and mathematical visualization software. The web- integration allows display of 3D geometries and interactive geometry experiments in any HTML document on the internet. VGEES is concerned with methods for exploring Geographical coordinates system, longitude and latitude for meridians and parallels, earth surface map, location of places, distance between cities, in such ways as to gain understanding. As a result, using concepts of longitude and latitude, VGEES allows the visualization of selected geographical elements over the Earth's surface like meridians, parallels, pole, coastline, equator, boundaries and more; calculate distances between two cities, and corresponding geodesic arc will drawn on the globe's surface; visualize locations of selected countries' capitals.
