Abstract
Nowadays, most of the existing e-catalog systems in the world are using
Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) as a medium for data interchange in e-business. EDI
has gave a lot of advantages and goodies to most of the organizations whom are using it
as EDI was established a long time and being used by many big companies in the world.
Sooner, EDI was overshadow and became a victim by it own success. EDI had to
overcome the most major problems which are; high-cost and complexity in
development. This project tied to introduce Extensible Markup Language (XML) as a
savior and maybe as a replacement to EDI. A research and a development of e-catalog
system have been made and it is shown that XML, is really helpful for reducing cost and
complexity of development.
